Talked to Mom.
She said we'll try to get me to BotCon. No guarantees, though. Also, I can bring the sewing machine with me! *dances* Not like it'd get any use staying at home. lol
So I put a bid on the upholstery foam lot I saw on eBay. It doesn't look like that particular store gets much traffic, so hopefully I won't have any competition for it. (Cross my fingers!)
I wish I had a dressform to work with. Even just a duct tape or paper tape one. However, with no time left down here and no one I'm close enough to in Washington to help me make one... I'll just have to do without.
I'm thinking it might be easier to cut the foam first, and then make patterns based off of it. More experienced peoples: is this the way to go? Or am I doing it backwards?
Also, I'm thinking of building it around a light gray turtleneck and a pair of light gray sweatpants. The turtleneck could take care of the silvery neck and upper arms for Bulkhead, as well as acting as a base to attach the rest of the pieces to. Same with the gray sweatpants and Bulkhead's thighs. And the turtleneck I could probably mod to add a zipper to it and the back of the neck on the green part just behind the neck, because I doubt it would stretch enough on its own to let me get my head through. ...I'm just trying to figure out how to do that with there being foam and having the foam still covered. Heh.
