So I went to try to pick the rest of my friend's plums, and they had gone bad on the tree. :( So I think I'll try making some lemon jelly after picking meyer lemons at my Dad's tomorrow... (Will have to wait to juice them until next week, since I work weekends.)

I've been working on projects for the Ravellenics (they ended up renaming the knitting/crochet games since the USOC was making such a stink. Bleh). I'm working on a scarf for my cousin. I hate knitting scarves, but she's worth it. And maybe this will motivate me enough to actually get it DONE.

Pictures and more of what I've done under here. )

So, that's what I've been up to.

This was knit out of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton on size 7 US circs. I didn't realize it was a dishcloth-type yarn when I was buying it online, and it was cheap, and I'm a poor college student! I had originally bought it for a different project, then when I wasn't even a quarter of the way through casting on for that project I got bored with it. I had bought 17 skeins of this stuff, and I used 9 and a part skeins for this top. That means there's over seven skeins left that I have no idea what to do with. lol

I started off with The Incredible, Custom-fit Raglan Sweater, and went from there.

Pictures and more chat behind here. )

I posted when I finished the first one, and now I've got them both finished!

Pictures behind here! )

As recap, I made these out of Cascade Fixation Effects in Hot Pink. I used the Universal Toe-Up Sock Formula, but switched out the short row toe for the Magic Cast-On for Toe-Up Socks. The hearts on the front are from the "Heart" scarf in Knitty's Breast Cancer Awareness issue.

I'm going sock yarn crazy! I keep wanting to buy more! And it doesn't help that Knitty published an article encouraging people to buy/use hand-painted yarns, including going to people who will custom-dye the yarn. It mentions Mama-E being a very good person to go to for custom dyes. Now I've got several ideas for custom-dyed sock yarn in my head! So I'm going to detail them out here so I can wait until I've got time and money to buy them and still have my ideas! )

...And that's all I have. So far...

First, bad thing: I had my computer on a good part of yesterday and all night, so I shut it down this morning while I went to get breakfast. Came back and it wouldn't turn on! I thought it had finally given up and crashed on me. Called Mom in a panic and she got me calmed down. I waited a bit, working on my sock, then turned it back on. Luckily, it came back on.

Then good: I finished my sock! Yay! More on it later, though I still need to make the second one.

Then another bad thing: My chair that I bought and brought up and is so lovely and perfectly sized for me and not hard? It broke when I sat down on it wrong. ;_; One of the plastic pieces that holds the structure together came apart. Now I'm stuck with these stupid hard uncomfortable school chairs.

Now, more on the sock. Including pictures! )

UPDATE! :D

Well, first off, Simply Sock Yarn are fast shippers. I ordered stuff for socks in the wee hours of Monday morning, and I got it and casted on today. ...Well, technically yesterday, but I haven't been officially to bed yet, thus "today".

More rambling about knitting. )

Now for scuba class stuff! )

Here's pics of my scarf and the incognito hat. If I were to make one again, I'd probably modify the pattern to do fewer decreases per round and more decrease rounds, and to do a k2tog tbl for decreasing the knits.

Shh! I'm pretending to be a muggle!

More pics under here! )

Scarf Tech Specs: Used Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Cranberry and Gold. Casted on 70 stitches on size 7 needles and used 1x1 ribbing. Stripe pattern was 30, 4, 8, 4. Guage is 8 stitches and 6 rows per inch. I ended up using just over 3 skeins of the cranberry and way less than 1 of the gold.

Hat Tech Specs: Used Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Cranberry and Gold. Casted on 144 stitches on size 7 needles and followed the Wizardly Incognito pattern. I used the same stripe pattern as the scarf. I used way less than one skein of each.
